ATC_Paperdolls
Preparing ATC Paper dolls for Printing Using Photoshop
(150 dpi or 300 dpi)
Please read through all the directions before you start this, because
many of the steps are order dependent.
If you are using 300 dpi images, just substitute 300 dpi where ever you see 150 dpi
- Save
the following 3 files to your machine from this directory:
http://www.salterdesign.com/Studio/Paperdoll/atc_files/
- atc_150_landscape.psd
- atc_150_portrait.psd
- paperdoll_set.atn
Use the “Back” button to get back to this file.
- Start
Photoshop
- Save a
single copy of your paper doll at one of the following (that means your
Image Size must be this):
in Portrait Mode:
- 150 dpi and
- 2.5 “ x 3.5” (portrait)
OR
in Landscape Mode:
- 150 dpi and
- 3.5” x 2.5” (landscape)
- Do
this step the one time only in Photoshop.
Pick the Action tab (on the History Menu). Looks like this

Click (and hold the mouse button down) on the small arrow next to the
Actions tab. And then select “Load Actions”. Now go to the area that you
saved the 3 files in Step 1 and pick
paperdoll_set.atn and click “Load”.

(You do not need to do this step again when you close or open Photoshop,
or restart your machine.
You only need to do it when you reinstall the Photoshop program)
Click on the History Tab.
- Open
your paper doll file (which is now sized) and the template file that
matches the orientation (portrait or landscape).
It is very important that you open
- Your paper doll file first
- Template file second (atc_150_portrait.psd or atc_150_landscape.psd)
Also, you should not have any other files open in Photoshop at this
time.
Otherwise the automated file will not work correctly.
If you didn’t or aren’t sure, close all open files and reopen the two
files in the correct order.
- For
Portrait Mode: Press Shift F2
For Landscape Mode: Press Shift F3
This should automatically cut and paste nine copies in the correct places
on the template for you to print. I usually “Save a Copy” of the paper
dolls in jpg format and don’t save changes to the template file.
Hereafter, if you want to do the same thing to another set of paper dolls,
do Steps 3, 5 and 6 only.
(You do not need to do Step 4 unless you reinstall the Photoshop program.)
Please email me if you have problems with this. I use it for
myself, but it’s hard to anticipate problems that other people might have due
to my explanations, differences in software versions and setups. This has been
tested in Photoshop 7, and was created in Photoshop 5; but should work in any version.
